We welcome you to our March 2008 Yesteryear Railwayana Catalogue. Each catalogue has a serial number and this and the item number should be given when ordering or making an inquiry. Telephoned orders may be made at any time, one of us is available to give personal attention on most days from 9-00 a.m. to 9-00 p.m. At all other times our answerphone will take your message. Alternatively you can contact us by E-mail, Fax or use the letter Post.

We produce eight different catalogues per year together with a January Sale issue, they will come out at six week intervals. We will as usual give a delightful mix of material in each catalogue and back this up with the excellent customer service you would want and expect. Goods will be carefully packaged and dispatched within seven working days of receiving your order.

Be sure to check our Terms of Business before making an order. Postage of up to GBP. 2-00 is inclusive in any order from our catalogues that comes to a total of GBP. 25-00 or more for goods after any discount that may be due, otherwise or beyond this postage is at cost.

236-0586. Anvers, Gare centrale, Place de la Gare. Colour Illustrated Postcard. Publisher not known but card No. 2216. Might be circa 1913. 3.5" x 5.5". Showing the magnificent frontage of the building. This has been posted to Dundee, Scotland but the postage stamp is damaged. The card might have been bought on the S.S. "Oriel" at Antwerp.

With a double page system map with stations named. Includes an advert for the West India Fruit & Steamship Company that operates a Railroad Car Ferry service between Palm Beach, Florida, and Havana, Cuba. Folds to 9” x 4”. Fine condition.

BALDWIN LOCOMOTIVE COMPANY. U.S.A. Official Item

236-0589. Baldwin Locomotive Details. Manufacturers Catalogue of Locomotive Parts. As sent to railway company who have bought, or wish to buy locomotives. Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Issue of 1st October 1920. This is copy No. 752, which was sent to the "Locomotive Superintendents Office, Federated Malay States Railways, 8th October 1924", and is rubber stamped on title page by the railway. 11.25" x 9" cloth boards, screw-clamp binding. Various paginations, some 490 pages in 24 sections, illustrated by hundreds of detailed scale drawings and 8 photos. Showing and naming all component parts and ancillary equipment for current steam locomotives, covering all types from four-wheel switcher to twenty wheel articulated heavy freight; with an explanation of the complex code system used for ordering a locomotive, or parts, to the specifications required by the customer. Really the ultimate in mail order catalogues. An excellent date and provenance, very scarce. There is an irregularity in page numbers of the introduction but the text seems to flow alright and certainly Baldwin had different printings of these pages and sent out the ones they considered relevant to individual customers. All other sections are complete. The cover is grubby but content is in very fine condition.

236-0591. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company. Certificate for less than 100 Shares of Common Stock, written for twenty-five Shares of One Hundred Dollars each. Issued in November 1951, signed by all parties. 7.5" x 11.5", 2 sides, yellow-green and black on white quality paper, engraved in an ornate style by the "International Bank Note Co. New York". Incorporating an attractive vignette showing an early passenger train hauled by a four-wheeled vertical boiler locomotive engine. The Certificate has been "Cancelled in 1952" by rubber stamping and perforation punch. A very pleasing piece that is most suited for display in a glazed frame. Very fine condition.

236-0592. Ditto but Certificate for less than 100 Shares of Preferred Stock, written for thirty Shares of One Hundred Dollars each. Issued in February 1955, signed by all parties. Orange and black on white. "Cancelled in March 1959", otherwise as above. A delight, in very fine condition.

236-0593. Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Postal Car, classes H-9, H-10, and H-11. Official Publicity Drawing, No. 8. By the B. & O.R. From about October 1939 these drawings were made available to railroad modellers who actually intended to build a model, there was no charge to those making a personal application to the company, it was considered to be good publicity. However they were not available to those who collect railroadiana! 11" x 17", on art paper, illustrated by 2 photos showing Railway Post Office No. 46; and with detailed and semi-detailed drawings in one quarter inch scale, gauge O, showing side elevation, plan, and various end and section views. The verso of this shows Combination Baggage and Mail Car, classes E-7, E-7A and E-7B. Showing Car No. 212. Nice item. Rolled and in generally fine condition.

236-0594. Bass, Ratcliff & Gretton, Limited, Burton-on-Trent. Private Locomotive No. 9, and Visitor's Saloon. Type 0-4-0 "A" Class, Saddle Tank Engine, designed by the firm's Locomotive Department. Loose Colour Supplement Plate, from "The Railway Magazine", probably circa 1950s. Mounted, with a light card mat, ready for framing. Picture size 5.5" x 7.75", with a printed description below. Overall size is 8" x 10". Excellent illustration of a very attractive subject. Very fine condition.

First Edition. 10.25" x 6.5", original paper covered light card boards with title on printed label affixed. 38 pages text + 4 fold-out maps, two opening to 10" x 15", and two opening to 10" x 14". Part coloured, drawn by C.M. Bauernfeind, engraved by G. Wenng, in Munchen + 2 pages publishers adverts. German text. There is a very light water stain on the bottom part of the maps, but otherwise all is in very fine condition. Very scarce and a rare opportunity to obtain this early important work in completely original state. Fine condition.

236-0604. Brazil Railway Company. Secured Debenture for the sum of 20 pounds 10 shillings 11 pence. Issued September 1919, for repayment by the Company within fifty years. Fully signed and impressed with the Company Seal, and with printed and impressed Revenue Stamps. 15” x 11”, black and green on white, 2 sides. Engraved with a decorative border by “Napoleon Alexandre & Co., Paris.” Giving conditions on the verso and including a complete set of twenty Interest Coupons which have also been impressed with the Company Seal. Seemingly the Debenture has not been settled nor any interest paid. All is in very fine condition.

236-0615. Combined Rail and Road Tours of Constable Country, including a visit to the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough. From Liverpool Street, 17/-. fare. Handbill. (A13X). April 1962. 9.75" x 6", blue on cream, 2 sides. Describes the itinerary; a packed lunch can be had from a half-crown extra. This and those following are snagged at top edge, it was the practice to thread string through a bundle of handbills and hang them on a hook in the station ticket hall, as they were pulled off by people taking a copy it resulted in a snag torn at the edge. This one also has some fraying on edges.

Not for us personally though, our sporting interests are mainly those on wheels; cycling, F1, motorcycles, ........................ o.k., o.k. I'll shut up now. Mary.)
