It is signed and inscribed "This work is cordially presented to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers by the author, Paris, 15-2-09." The Institution's London book-plate is affixed. Launay was sometime engineer with both the L. & N.W. and L. & Y. Railways. Very collectable.

231-2638. Lehigh Valley Railroad Company. General Consolidated Mortgage Gold Bond of One Thousand Dollars, and paying 4 Per Cent Interest. Issued December 1933, impressed with the railway company Seal and signed by the Secretary and Vice President. 10" x 15", 2 sides, green & black on white quality paper, engraved in a decorative style by the "American Bank Note Company, Philadelphia. Incorporating an attractive vignette showing a locomotive approaching the viewer head on, having passed under a signal gantry and past a signal box it is then about to pass a gang of men carrying out maintenance on the track. The Bond has been "Cancelled" by rubber stamp and several punched holes, in 1935. Very impressive, this will please. Very fine condition.
