Picture size 5.5" x 9", on an extracted page from The Illustrated London News. 4th April 1857, 15.75" x 10.75". Showing a view of the broken railway bridge from below in the gorge with smashed passenger carriages; there are numerous sightseers and the road suspension bridge can be seen in the background. Including the text article. This is without folds and in fine condition.

Together with an account of the several various areas in which the picture were taken. Generally very fine condition.

232-3055. GEHRICKE, Friedrich. Device to prevent railway trains from running off the rails. Publicity for an invention. Berlin, not dated but circa late 1890s. 11.75" x 9", 4 pages, full text in English and German. Gives a description of the newly patented device, together with an engineers perspective drawing 19.25" x 22", part coloured and printed by Carl Ringer & Sohn, Berlin. An interesting arrangement that caught some attention in this country as it is rubber stamped "North London Railway, Locomotive Department, Bow. 12th November 1903." Something rather different.

Pages 115 to 218 illustrated by very many photos and drawings + 39 pages of adverts + fold-out drawing. This is the Deutsche Verkehrsausstellung, Munchen, edition, and all the many and various exhibits of motive power, rolling stock and equipment are described. There is quite a bit on TEEs. German text.

Distances between Stations on Other Companies Lines and Junctions with the Great Eastern Railway, for calculating through distances to and from "Godmanchester" Station. 1st January 1893 printing. Company Distances book issued for use of staff at the station office. 13" x 8.75", three-quarter leather boards with title on spine and printed label on cover. 24 pages with title and index + 241 pages with long listing of stations on other railway companies in Great Britain and parts of Ireland. Probably covering all places on other lines in England, Scotland and Wales with the distances to various G.E.R. Junctions. A very scarce piece from a quite early date. Indeed, when it is remembered how seldom official material from this railway is found on offer it is not much of an exaggeration to say that this is as scarce as hens teeth! Rubbed on spine and covers with a little age grubbiness on most pages, however all is tight and without any tears or damage.

A contemporary print that has somewhat faded but still provides much information. The eight wheel tender equipped with a single four-wheel-bogie is of particular interest. Otherwise fine condition.
