Cloth boards in a near mint condition wrapper. 192 pages illustrated by many colour photos. Pictures by the author from the mid-1960s, around several parts of England, and a visit to Turkey in 1986. Near mint condition.
233-3485. An Album of Railway Engines. Issued by W.D. & H.O. Wills. Branch of The Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain and Ireland, Limited. (Printers number on back cover 10334). Complete with the full set of fifty Wills Cigarette Cards, (1936 issue), gummed into the booklet in the appropriate printed positions. Album and cards are all original printings. 7.25" x 5", (20) pages, including covers, all in grey light card, printed in black with parts in red. The front cover and inside front cover both have illustrations from original drawings and there are full printed descriptions at the side of each printed space for the cards. No. 7 has the notation that this engine was used to draw the Royal Funeral Train from Paddington to Windsor on 28th January 1936. Each of the 50 cards are 1.25" x 2.5" on light card with a full colour illustration of the locomotive type from an original painting and the title on lower margin. A most delightful find that will seldom be found on offer. The album has a small ink stain on the bottom edge and another on back cover lower corner but is otherwise in generally fine condition. The cards are in very fine condition.

A general book on the making of railways and locomotives, in Britain and elsewhere. The content of this is the same as "The Iron Road" by the same author, but was published with only half the colour plates. See Ottley 2423. Bright, in fine condition.

First edition. 8.75" x 5.75", cloth boards in a very fine condition wrapper. 202 pages with several photographs. A quite detailed history of this West of England bus company, that was much involved with the Great Western Railway, and other railways over the years. Generally very fine condition.
233-3499. "Arrival of The High Sheriff of Cheshire at the Mottram Station." Wood Engraved Drawing. Picture size 5.5" x 9", on an extracted page from The Illustrated London News. 7th April 1855, 15.75" x 10.75". Showing the train hauled by a 2-2-2 locomotive with six-wheel tender drawing into the station; the platforms, adjoining road and a bridge are crowded with people, and several horse drawn carriages wait outside the station. Together with, "Cheshire Javelin-Man, in the Sheriff's Procession", 7" x 3". Included is a lengthy text article. This is in fine condition.

First edition. 9.5" x 7", cloth boards in a very fine condition wrapper. 128 pages with over 200 photos and several track layout plans and maps. An historical description. There has been some most interesting traffic using these lines over the years. Very fine condition.
233-3501. Atlantic & St. Lawrence Railroad Company. Certificate for One Share of One Hundred Pounds Sterling in the Capital Stock. Issued in January 1930, signed by all parties and printed with a "One Shilling" Revenue Stamp. This railway was incorporated in February 1845 and later came under lease to the Canadian National Railway Company, which was the successor to the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada. 7.5" x 11.75", grey & black on white quality paper, engraved in an ornate style with a decorative border by the "Continental Bank Note Company, New York." Incorporating an attractive vignette showing a 4-4-0 locomotive on train at a station. The Certificate has been "Cancelled" by two rubber stampings and has been affixed to a sheet, 7.5" x 11.75", with 25 unused "Three Pound Sterling" payment coupons that have been disallowed due to the cancellation. Superb history, seldom found on offer. Generally fine condition.

233-3507. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. Certificate of Ten Shares of Common Capital Stock, at a Par value of One Hundred Dollars each. Issued in May 1958, fully signed by all required parties and impressed with the Company Seal. 7.5" x 11.5", blue and black on white, engraved in an ornate style with a decorative border on quality paper, by the "International Bank Note Co., New York." Incorporating an attractive vignette showing a very early passenger train hauled by a four-wheeled vertical boiler locomotive engine attached to an open truck loaded with wooded barrels, that I presume held water for the boiler, followed by two passenger carriages. The certificate has been "Cancelled, August 1958" by rubber stamp and three holes punched in two signatures. An impressive piece that is suited for mounting in a glazed frame for display. Very fine condition.

On two extracted pages of The Illustrated London News. 18th May 1861, each of 15.5" x 10.5". Showing a detailed perspective view of the structure taken from above the river side, train is crossing over the deep gorge. Together with "Boardtree Hill." 6.5" x 9", showing a wide view with four trains all on different levels; and "Kingswood Tunnel." 4.5" x 6", showing a train emerging from the portal. Including a quite long text article. Super history. Very fine condition.
