233-3784. Great Eastern Railway Locomotive No. 759. Designed by James Holden, built at Stratford Works in 1890. Engraved Drawing, first published in The Railway Engineer during the nineteenth century, this being a re-printing made from the original blocks for Hugh Evelyn Limited, London, in 1964. 10" x 17" on substantial paper with blank verso. Showing a detailed perspective drawing of the 2-4-0 engine and six wheel tender standing in full left side; toning and shading is most effectively used with superb fine artistry. Below the illustration is a title and brief specifications of the locomotive. Most suited to being mounted and framed. Fine condition.

233-3792. Great Northern Railway. Hertford Branch. Sheet Nos 10, 11 & 12, from the Company Archive. Land Plan Register. Manuscript plan drawing showing the railway company holdings in Land and Property. Prepared by Henry Fowler, F.S.I. Surveyor, Manchester. Not dated but probably around 1900. Three sheets of 27" x 45.5" each, linen backed paper. Fully detailed to a scale of 2 chains to one inch, with black ink pen drawing in superb neat draughtsmanship and various notation as required, finished with attractive colour washes in places. Showing all features within the company boundaries and those adjacent to it. Including all railway track, disc signals, individual buildings and trees, bridges, waterways, level crossings, huts, drains, wells, notice boards, footpaths, and so on. The names of land owners skirting the line are given and any mineral rights they might have. In the main the owners seem to be The Marquis of Salisbury, Earl Cowper, and Baroness Braye. Full names and titles are shown. Covering the single line branch from a junction with the GNR London to Leeds main line at Hatfield near to milepost 20 & 1/2. Continuing by Attimore Hall siding at Tewin, past Horrel Hyde sidings and on to Cole Green Station, with two platforms, passing loop and sidings at 24 miles, on to Hertingfordbury Station, past further sidings at 26 miles to the Parish of Bengeo at 27 miles. Extremely informative and most interesting. There are several creases and folds with some fraying to edges but no tears or loss. The drawings are clear and bright. We will send it rolled.

Including a quite lengthy text article regarding the construction of the line. Great history. This and that following are without folds and in very fine condition.

Probably circa 1920s. 3.5" x 5.5", with a sepia photographic view of the Hotel and boat house from across the water. This is possibly an official Great Southern Railway card or even a Great Southern & Western Railway issue, as the latter used just Great Southern from as early as 1902. See Alsop GS-023. Card not used in very fine condition.
