Showing detailed side and end elevations, part section. with dimensions and constructional notes. Rubber stamped "CME, Swindon, 1928". Folded, generally fine condition.
233-3841. Workman's Compensation Act, 1925. Statement Form, for an employee injured at work. (4214). 10" x 7.75", 2 sides, black on blue. Written 1939 for injury while at Swindon Works.
233-3842. "Great Western Railway. Apprentices failing to grease these nipples thoroughly at hourly intervals will forfeit two days pay. By Order, 1st August 1863. E.L. Chapman, General Manager." An Embossed Notice Plate. 3" x 5.5", oval, pressed in thin sheet brass, with raised lettering and a border, made with two holes for screw fixing to the required machine. This is not an authentic piece but is extremely well produced and has a nice aged look. It is a quite convincing fake by appearance but the G.W.R. company did not have a General Manager of that name. It is believed that it was made in South America in much more recent times than the date shown. Most amusing. Worthy of collection. Near mint condition.
233-3843. Great Western Railway Locomotive "Lord of the Isle". Designed by Sir Daniel Gooch, built at Swindon Works in 1851. Engraved Drawing first published in The Railway Engineer during the nineteenth century, this being a re-printing made from the original blocks for Hugh Evelyn Limited, London, in 1964. 10" x 17" on substantial paper with blank verso. Showing a detailed perspective drawing of the 4-2-2 engine and six wheel tender standing in full left side; toning and shading is most effectively used with superb fine artistry. Below the illustration is a title and brief specifications of the locomotive. Most suited to be mounted and framed. Fine condition.

233-3848. Hammersmith and City Railway. Ladbroke Grove Road Bridge. Manuscript Drawing, made for the construction of the railway. Circa 1862. This is the Master Drawing No. 4., from which printed copies were obtained, it is rubber stamped "C. Rummens, 202 Bishopgate St., (London) E.C.", who were the Agent for the Railway Company. 26" x 49" on linen backed paper. In black and red ink pen drawing with a colour wash in a couple of places, to a scale of 4 feet to one inch. Showing a bridge of brick and girder construction with stone capping and shrouding to carry the two track railway of dual gauge over the road. In detailed elevation, half plan and sections, with major dimensions and notes. Excellent history. This railway opened on 13th June 1864 as a mixed gauge line and was worked by the Great Western Railway until April 1865 with the Metropolitan Railway took over the operation. The broad gauge rails were taken up in 1867 and the line became a GW & Metropolitan Joint Railway on 1st July 1867. Rolled. Generally fine condition.

Showing a bridge to carry the two track 7 foot gauge railway over, of brick and stone construction with arches on the approach on each side and column supports over the road. Otherwise as before. Most Respectfully Dedicated to the Coal Trade by their Obedient and Humble Servant John Thomas William Bell, Castle Eden. 1843. Wall Map. 33" x 43" on linen backed paper. Hand coloured in parts, printed from a zinc engraved plate by C. Chabot, London. To a scale of 2.5" to one mile. Showing a detailed map with the many railways and collieries named, as are all places and land owners named. All executed in a clear and very attractive style. This has been used as a working copy and has various annotation in pencil regarding parcels of land. It is age grubby and at some time has been folded up, with some wear. Nevertheless it is an important record and a rare map. It is complete, rolled, and will be looked upon as a delightful piece.

233-3855. Hatfield and St. Albans Railway. Waiting Shed for Down Platform, St. Albans Station. Manuscript Architects Tracing, used for the construction of the railway. The original drawing from I.S. Pierse, of Westminster, the Engineer, as sent to Francis Rummens, Westminster, agent for the railway company: signed by both and dated 24th August 1865. 18" x 23.5". In black and red ink with colour wash in a few places, on tracing paper, draughted in a neat style, quite attractive. To a scale of four feet to one inch, showing a simple open fronted brick and wooden structure with bench seats across the back wall. In front and end elevation and plan views, fully detailed with major dimensions and constructional notes. A unique piece of history. Rolled, clean and bright, in generally very fine condition.
