235-0115. Coal Pit Heath in the County of Glocester (sic) to the River Avon at Bitton, A Plan of the Proposed Iron Railway. Lithographed Plan Drawing 10.5" x 12.75", on hand made paper with an overall size of 14" x 17" giving the full impress mark, to a scale of one inch to one mile, showing the course of a railway, coloured in red, of ten miles one furlong length, from Coal Pit Heath near Westerleigh with the several coal pits marked, and going by way of further coal pits at Pucklechurch, Siston, and Haul Lane, where a Brass Works is also shown, to the River Avon which is coloured in blue. Included on the plan are Bristol, Keynsham, and Bath, where part of the Kennet and Avon Canal (opened in 1810) is coloured in yellow; and Sodbury. Hamlets are named and roadways and other small rivers are shown. There are no other railways other than the proposal. This piece is not dated but in the period 1800 to 1830 which is the time that the impress was made, there were several railway and tramway schemes and undertakings in the area, some of which are recorded. I do not know of any published documentation on this particular Iron Railway. This is very much a rare copy and has the woodcut stamping of "Thomas E. Blackwell, Civil Engineer." Shows slight signs of age but without any folds and it is in fine condition. We will send it rolled. It will certainly please.
