General Terms of Business and further Information.

The Proprietors Undertaking

This is a family business, Patrick and Mary Mullen are the proprietors and in all matters you will have their attention and expertise. It is our aim and intention to give satisfaction in our transactions. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have an enquiry or want some clarification, we will give whatever information we can to help you without any unwanted persuasion. We buy material from many places in the world and well understand the trials and tribulations that can arise in some cases when buying items unseen, it is our purpose to see that you are safeguarded from such happenings at this site.

Purchases will be carefully packaged and dispatched usually within seven working days of taking your order, if you want dispatch to be held over to a particular date, just ask. We will be using Second Class Postage for all letters and packages, unless requested otherwise. Any item that does not meet your requirements for whatever reason, can be returned without question within fourteen days of receipt for a full reimbursement of the price of the goods, we ask only that it is carefully repackaged and sent back quickly in the same condition as received. If the item is returned due to an error on our part we will also repay the postage involved.

The Catalogues

We produce five different catalogues per year together with a January Sale issue, they come out at roughly ten week intervals. Other than the January Sale edition all catalogues remain open to your orders for at least eighteen months. However, the material shown in these is only part of our current stock in hand so please enquire about any other of your railway wants.

The listing is alphabetical but items may be under various headings, it is always worthwhile to check right through the catalogue for your particular requirements.

Description of Goods

Unless otherwise stated all items are complete and in very good condition, which means that they are without damage but showing reasonable and expected signs of use conducive with the age and purpose of the piece. Any additional defect is noted, as are outstanding qualities. Standard trade terms for condition are used, which in a descending order are: As New or Mint, Very Fine, Fine, and Very Good. We can send an image of most items if requested.

Star items are those that have the one or more attribute of being either, very hard to come by, of having particularly good content or quality, of being in outstandingly nice condition, or of being at an attractive price. Sizes are given in inches in a length times breadth form. The Ottley numbers comply with the listing in "A Bibliography of British Railway History" by George Ottley; the Alsop numbers with the listing in "The Official Railway Postcard Book" by John Alsop.

Ordering

The catalogues have a serial number, this and the item number should be given when ordering or making an inquiry. All items being subject to prior sale. You can email from the links on this site, we will always acknowledge a relevant message usually within twenty-four hours, if you do not get a reply within this period, send it again. To ensure that our email reply is delivered to your inbox and not treated as spam, please add sales@yesrail.com and sales@yesrail.co.uk to your address book or list of approved senders. Telephoned orders at any time are welcome, one of us is available on most days from 9-00 a.m. to 9-00 p.m. for personal attention, at other times our answer-phone will take your message. Alternatively you can fax or use the letter post.

Overseas customers are always most welcome.

Payment

Payment is to be made with the Order. Postage is extra at cost, there is no further charge for packaging or handling. It is your right to cancel the order for any reason, should you wish to before it is dispatched.

Make the Cheque payable to Yesteryear Railwayana and in British Sterling Pounds and Pence. Please note that we are no longer taking payment by Credit Card or Debit Card. We have dispensed with the Merchant Service Provider we were using due to an increase in charges which to us would be untenable. Use Cheque or Postal Order, also Cash by Recorded Post and for amounts under GBP. 10-00 unused British Postage Stamps are fine.

Postage of up to GBP. 3-00 is inclusive in any order from our catalogues that comes to a total of GBP. 25-00 or more for goods after any discount that may be due, GBP. 4-00 in orders that total GBP. 50-00, and GBP. 6-00 in those totalling GBP. 100-00, otherwise or beyond this postage is at cost. If you require insurance in transit, which we urge and in some cases will require that it be taken, there is an additional charge.

Purchase Orders from Libraries, Museums, Universities, and similar institutions are welcome and will be invoiced for payment on receipt or as required.

Buying material for our Stock

We often want to buy suitable material but please send full written details in the first instance. Note that condition is always most important to us, everything must be complete, free of any damage and in a pleasing saleable state.
